If you have highlighted or dyed blond hair, it takes a lot of work to keep that color looking its best — and that often means regular trips to the colorist.
But the products used daily can also make a big difference in keeping color vibrant. TODAY Style asked celebrity-trusted experts to share their favorite finds that can be found right in the drugstore beauty aisle.
TODAY editors, writers and experts take care to recommend items we really like and hope you’ll enjoy! Just so you know, TODAY does have affiliate relationships. So, while every product is independently selected, if you buy something through our links, we may get a small share of the revenue.
L’Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray
“This is my all-time favorite hairspray; it’s light and easy to comb (through) after spraying. It’s perfect as daily spray, since you can use it as many times as you’d like,” said celebrity hairstylist Shalom Sharon.

L’Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Deep Nourishing Treatment Serum
“This product with silicone is excellent for blondes. I recommend that you use it before and after blow drying,” said Sharon, whose clients include Amy Irving, Debbie Harry and many more.
L’Oréal Paris Hair Color Root Cover Up Hair Dye in Dark Blonde
“This root touch-up spray is lightweight and covers your grays in between touch-ups at the salon,” said Jessica Elbaum, a celebrity hairstylist.
John Frieda Blonde Crystal Hairspray
“This hairspray has a flexible hold with a non-dulling effect. In other words, it keeps hair in place without covering its shine and luster,” said Elbaum, whose clients include Julie Bowen, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland and Amber Stevens West.
Its a 10 Miracle Leave in for Blondes
“Here’s a leave-in conditioner that creates softness and tones blond hair,” said Elbaum.
Jhirmack Ageless Shampoo
“While many opt for deep violet shampoos to counteract brassiness, you’ll probably want to use a softer, more pastel purple shampoo unless the blonde is very platinum. For those with more buttery yellow blondes, a too-strongly violet shampoo can actually make the color murky and flat. This one is good for daily use for all types of blondes, especially for those looking to tone down the brassiness,” said Arturo Swayze, founder of ManeSpace, a co-working salon in New York City.
OGX Hydrate + Tone Revising + Lavender Luminescent Platinum Shampoo
“This is a good lavender shampoo for clients looking for a more natural drugstore alternative. On top of the lavender shade, it also has chamomile extract, which can help blonds look brighter. The lavender fragrance is very soothing and pleasing!” said Swayze, whose clients include Kelly Rutherford, Arianna Huffington and Julia Roberts.
Tigi Catwalk Fashionista Violet Shampoo For Blondes And Highlights
“Unless you were born with it, your blond hair may need a little boost. This sulfate-free violet shampoo removes brassy or orange tones, leaving hair cooler and brighter. Designed with pearl extract for its illuminating effects, purple shampoo is a must-have for highlights, balayage or all-over color. Use up to four times per week and give your hair a break in between with an ultramoisturizing shampoo and deep-conditioning treatment,” said Michael Boychuck, celebrity colorist and owner of Color Salon inside Caesars Palace.
L’Oreal EverPure Blonde Anti-Brassiness Conditioner
“Blond hair can be prone to breakage and dryness due to it being overprocessed. Made with natural botanicals, L’Oreal’s EverPure conditioner is great for daily use and to give some much-needed TLC after multiple color treatments. It’s designed to be extremely gentle on colored hair with no sulfates or salts that can dry out hair even more. Balance out brassiness by using daily after each shampoo,” said Boychuck, whose clients include Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and Kendra Wilkinson.
